Graphic Designer

POSITION SUMMARY

Emerge Education has an immediate opening on our growing team for a Graphic Designer. The Graphic Designer reports to the Director of Marketing. This person is responsible for executing the marketing plans and the tactical marketing functions of the organization, as developed by the Vice President and Director of Marketing. This includes world-class marketing campaigns via a variety of formats, platforms and environments including: social media, email, display, direct mail, print and other digital and non-digital campaign assets that aid in the growth of the organization and accurately represent Emerge’s educational clients. 

Our ideal candidate will have experience developing digital and non-digital marketing assets that generate campaign results. Key requirements include: strong graphic design experience; an eye for creative details; ability to understand creative in the context of overall marketing strategy; a very strong collaborative work style; ability to build assets that follow strict client brand guidelines; strong attention to detail; ability to communicate effectively with clients; and the ability to manage the pressures of a fast paced, goal-oriented online marketing environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for managing creative direction of client brands through engaging visuals and digital experiences 
  • Demonstrate ability to translate core branding equities and tone through digital marketing activations
  • Experience designing for a wide variety of digital and non-digital placements including identity, landing pages, UI and UX, social media, email marketing, videography, presentations, direct mail, OOH, etc.
  • See projects throughout the entire design process from creative conception to production
  • Maintain in-depth understanding of the business case and/or client brief gained through research into the client and subject matter
  • Design innovative display banner ads, and social ads in Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and other platforms that drive results in collaboration with copy and digital marketing teams
  • Develop ideas and strategies that show insight and innovation; willing to roll-up-your sleeves and offer solutions and take on tasks that drive successful campaigns and deliver planned marketing outcomes
  • Develop high-performing landing pages, and other website content that delivers strong results
  • Design layout of non-digital advertisements, white paper/research papers, brochures, and other materials as needed  
  • Must be able to communicate design rationale effectively and pitch creative assets both internally and externally
  • Manage photography throughout all digital and non-digital assets; be able to select imagery that aligns with targeted audience and generates impact
  • Leverage Google and other analytics tools to measure and build and enhance effective marketing campaigns
  • Collaborate within the marketing department as well as cross-functionally and with clients; collaborate with team in a positive and productive manner including partnering with copywriters, producers, marketing partners and fellow designers
  • Be willing to create, update and write website and other material content as part of campaigns, including regular updates to CMS
  • Execute Emerge Education’s social media strategies through ads and social media posting management
  • Understand, follow and align all creative output to match client brand guidelines
  • Manage relationships with third-party media, advertising and production vendors 
  • Perform other marketing duties as assigned by the Director of Marketing

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Expertise in Adobe Creative/Cloud Suite (or equivalent) design tools with strong eye for graphical layout/design
  • Experience working with multiple brands/clients simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage simultaneous project deadlines
  • Ability to see large picture while not losing focus of details
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to communicate cross-functionally and with clients
  • Experience developing and executing strategic marketing campaigns utilizing both digital and non-digital marketing channels including website/content, email, event materials and social media
  • Work well under the pressure of tight deadlines and changing demands
  • Boundless creativity and endless curiosity
  • Experience with video editing/production tools and software
  • Willingness to learn 
  • Solid understanding of design layout practices and advertising standards
  • Strong understanding of and interest in display ad management, search engine optimization, and inbound marketing strategies 
  • Solid understanding of social media advertising 
  • Proven ability to collaborate, build consensus and work effectively across departments; including receiving and expecting feedback from client colleges/universities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • To talk and hear with enough proficiency to allow for communicating with co-workers, clients, and existing and prospective students by phone or in person
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communication or related discipline 
  • Five to seven years of digital/non-digital marketing experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with MailChimp, Pardot or other automated email marketing tools preferred
  • Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communication, Graphic Design or related discipline
  • Working experience in higher education sector
  •
