University of the Cumberlands partners with Emerge
Personal Career Planning For Every College Student For Less Than The Price Of A Textbook
CAMP HILL, PA — June 6, 2016 – With over 70%1 of students listing finding a job after graduation as the most important outcome of a college degree, and with the national student loan debt exceeding $1.3 trillion2, the University of the Cumberlands has partnered with Emerge Education to provide one of the most aggressive and comprehensive career planning services in the nation. The service’s one time, per-student cost to the institution is less than the price of a college textbook.
All newly enrolled freshman attending the University of the Cumberlands will receive an in-depth interview focusing on their chosen major, desired location of employment, first year salary expectations and projected employment trends in their field. As the student progresses through their degree program, a personal career planner is with them every step of the way, providing quarterly counseling sessions and helping the student build a portfolio of related experience. Prior to graduation, the career planner is actively searching for future openings and contacting human resource departments in the area to arrange interviews for up to one year after graduation. Plans to expand the service to the University’s adult and online populations are already being developed for early 2017.
